MOUNT VERNON – Dress up or dress down and relive your high school days at Ariel-Foundation Park for a night full of food, live music, and dancing at the All-Ages Prom.
Plan an impromptu class reunion with live dance music provided by the Foundation Park Conservancy on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Ariel-Foundation Park. Food and beverage service begins at 6 p.m. at the Schnormeier Event Center, and will be followed by a live concert at 7 p.m. by Dwight Lenox and the Lenox Avenue Express.
From blues to ballads and jazz to swing, Lenox shines. His impeccable instincts and mellow sound have garnered the attention of some of the finest musicians in the industry. He’s performed with Sammy Tucker and renowned organist Hank Marr. He’s been showcased alongside the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Bobbie Humphrys, Ramsey Lewis and Herbie Mann. And as featured vocalist with the 17-piece Columbus Jazz Orchestra, he’s shared the stage with Harold Jones and Carmen Bradford.
Admission is free, and guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs. For those interested in reserving a table with friends, this event will feature a fun picnic style dining option catered by Lanning’s Foods.
Picnic basket options include: steak salad, chicken Caesar wrap, or vegetarian sandwich, and each option includes sides, desserts, and bottled water. A special combination discount is available through Aug. 4, including preferred table seating and one of the picnic choices for $15 per person ($120 for table groups of 8). Table seating without the picnic basket option is $50 for a table for 8 near the dance floor, and picnic baskets without reserved table seating are available for $10 each in advance, $12 each at the event, while the supply lasts.
Prizes will be awarded by the Foundation Park Conservancy for the most creative prom theme décors.
