Accidents:
At 6:06 p.m. on August 31 a car driven by Michael P. Brinning, Plaza Dr., Mount Vernon was east bound on E. High St. when it ran a red light. It struck a car north bound on S. Gay st. driven by Ashley M. Thompson, Elizabeth St. Mount Vernon.
At 6:52 p.m., August 31, Dylan P. Kipp was cited for assured clear distance when his car hit the rear end of a car driven by Alice Buskirk, Country Club Drive, Howard
Incidents:
At 2:02 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a business alarm at 1441 Newark Rd. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unsecured door at the north end of the building and cleared the alarm. Officers determined that everything appeared normal. The key holder to the building declined to come to the building to secure it so officers secured it. Case closed.
At 5:22 p.m. On August 31, a found wallet was turned in to the Mount Vernon Police Department. Upon return of the wallet to owner it was determined that $140 in cash and a Capital One Credit Card were missing. The incident remains under investigation.
At 8:37 p.m. On August 31 an officer met at the Mount Vernon Police Station with a subject concerning a complaint against subject’s estranged spouse. The subject advised there were ongoing harassment issues and also expressed concern for safety. On this date the subject’s spouse is reported to have shown up at subject’s place of employment and there was a confrontation in the parking lot. The officer took a written statement from subject, subject’s spouse and one witness reported to be in the area at the time. Advice was given to all parties and the statements were forwarded to the City Law Director for review. The case remains under investigation.
