DANVILLE — A shiny used vehicle was donated to Danville Local Schools thanks to Killbuck Savings Bank on Friday afternoon.
The automobile will be utilized by the district’s school resource officer.
When Danville Local Schools hired school resource officer (SRO) Capt. Rich Miller in 2019, Supt. Jason Snively said he brought a wealth of knowledge and over 30 years of experience in protecting and serving citizens.
But one thing he didn’t have was a cruiser or designated vehicle.
Danville Local School Board President Paul Stover reached out to Killbuck Savings Bank CEO Vic Weaver to see if a donation could be made for the district.
Weaver’s bank obliged.
The bank donated a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, valued at $9,550.
The vehicle will allow Miller to do wellness checks on absent students, as well as keep safety and tactical equipment in close proximity in the event of an active threat, Snively said.
Weaver said he doesn’t think the bank has ever donated a vehicle before.
Park National Bank also contributed $500 to fund the endeavor, which will now be used to outfit the vehicle with safety equipment.
