Gordon Andrew “Gordy” Simmons age 66, passed away on October 23, surrounded by the love of his family.
Gordon was born on January 7, 1960, to Cecil and Velma Simmons.

Gordon enjoyed the simple things in life. Whether it was on the century family farm, out hunting, riding his Harley, or spending time with family and friends, he was happiest doing the things he enjoyed.- the freedom of the open road, the peace of the outdoors, and the company of those closest to him.

Anyone who knew Gordy knew he was never the “Cadillac kind.”

He wasn’t a man who needed fancy things or the finer things in life to be happy. He was happiest keeping things simple, doing things his own way, and enjoying life with the people who mattered most. He was simply Gordy, and he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

While family meant the world to Gordon, his granddaughters, Alexis and Andrea, held an especially special place in his heart. He shared a unique and cherished bond with each of them. To Andrea, he was her beloved “Papaw,” someone who supported her, believed in her, and was always proud of her. Even though he wasn’t particularly fond of horses himself, that never stopped him from encouraging her love for them and always being in her corner. The memories he made with both girls and the love they shared will forever be treasured.

Gordon was a proud and dedicated Mason for 38 years at Thrall Lodge No. 170. Throughout those years, he held numerous seats within the Lodge and had the honor of serving as Worshipful Master on two occasions. He also served as Past President of the 19th Masonic District. His years in Masonry meant a great deal to him, not only because of the positions he held, but because of the friendships, brotherhood, and memories he made along the way. Gordon truly enjoyed the time he spent with his Masonic brothers, and those relationships held a special place in his life.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Simmons; his son, Andy (Erin) Simmons; his granddaughters, Alexis (Trenten) Sturgeon and Andrea Simmons; his sisters, Jean Baxter, Kim Dixon, and Roxanna Morrison; multiple nieces, nephews, and many other family members and dear friends!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Velma Simmons; his brother, Gerald (Sandy) Simmons; and his brothers-in-law, Roger Dixon and Lowell Baxter.

Gordon will be remembered for the love he had for his family, the friendships he treasured, the brotherhood he valued, and the many memories he leaves behind. Though he will be deeply missed, his love and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
