John C. (Jack) Holmes, age 67, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was born on July 28, 1959, in Mount Vernon to the late Norbert and Laura (Edwards) Holmes.
John graduated from Centerburg High School and was very proud of the undefeated football season his senior year. He loved Friday nights watching high school football and enjoyed watching Ohio State and the Cleveland Browns. He was a man with a passion for God and always would say, “Joy is a Choice”.
John is survived by his sons, Ryan (Tasha) Holmes, Tyler (Jenna) Holmes; grandchildren, Caden, Ryan, Maggie and Jack; brothers, Don (Linda) Cochran, Jim (Karen) Holmes.
Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by a son, J.C. Holmes II; a brother, Terry Holmes; a sister, Patricia Wheeler.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 5 PM until the time of Celebration starting at 7 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel; 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050, with Pastor Roger Tickle officiating.
In lieu of flowers, John would want everyone to be happy and enjoy yourself.
