Barbara L. Byrd, 78, of Mount Vernon passed away on September 29, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 19, 1948, to Ronald and Mary (Stevens) Mawer in Mount Vernon, OH.
Barbara attended the Storyside Church in Bellville and Mount Vernon. She enjoyed growing flowers, camping and watching the Bevery Hill Billies.
Barbara is survived by her children Tracy (Cathleen) Mawer of Hillsboro, OH, Tammy Sherrill of Mansfield, OH and Terry (Mandy) Byrd of Howard, OH; grandchildren Katie McTaggert, Ray (Becca) McTaggert, Matt (Becky) McTaggert, Brittony Butler, Caleb (Katy) Byrd, Alan (Monica) Sherrill and Adam (Breanna) Sherrill; 14 great grandchildren; a sister Shirley Bayless of Mount Vernon and many extended family members.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Byrd, brothers Jerry Mawer, Ronald E. Mawer, Richard Mawer, her parents and a longtime companion Donald McCutchen.
Calling hours will be Monday, October 5, 2026 at Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm with a funeral service at 6:00pm.
