Donald E. Wilkinson, 80, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away, Sunday, September 27, 2026, after a battle with illness. Born in Newark, Ohio, Mr. Wilkinson was the son to the late Richard Wilkinson and Isabelle Weiss.
Donald was a truck driver prior to his retirement. He loved the open road, often just picking a direction and driving to see what he could find of interest, including covered bridges, hole in the wall diners, and a good place to cast his fishing line.
Don loved Christmas, model trains, mountains, and most of all snow! His ashes will be spread throughout the Smokey and Blue Ridge Mountains which were his favorite places to be.
He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 53 years, Marvel A. Wilkinson (Walton), his parents, his brother Larry Wilkinson, and granddaughter, Rylee Parker.
His surviving family includes his children, Deirdre M. Wilkinson, Kimberly A. Parker, Donald E. Wilkinson II, his twin sister, Dora Harris, his siblings, Iciphene Wilkinson, Jerry Brown, as well as 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
There will be no service.
