With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Patricia Kathleen Neipling, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on the evening of September 20, 2026.
Born on August 28, 1950, in Richlands, Virginia, Patricia was a beacon of strength, resilience, and warmth whose presence touched all who knew her. Patricia was the cherished daughter of Cecil W. Keene and Geneva K. Simmons, both of whom predeceased her, along with her beloved brother, Gary W. Keene. She was also predeceased by her loving husband, Albert Neipling, with whom she shared 26 wonderful years of marriage. Together they created a home filled with laughter, love, and adventure.
A proud alumna of Mount Vernon Senior High, Patricia’s career journey was as vibrant and diverse as she was. She initially pursued her passion for beauty as a cosmetologist, a career she shared with her mother. Her adventurous spirit led her to become a flight attendant for a major US airline, and eventually, she joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where she met Gary B. Secrist, the father of her children. Patricia and Gary became partners in life and business, running a successful moving and storage company in northern Virginia and Maryland.
Patricia’s professional journey didn’t stop there. She managed the Mount Vernon Bowling Center and once again returned to cosmetology. Alongside Albert, she helped run a restaurant and embraced life on the road as he worked as a truck driver. Patricia’s willingness to take on any challenge and her ability to wear many hats exemplified her indomitable spirit.
Above all, Patricia was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two sons, Joseph S. Secrist and his wife Pamela, and Stephen C. Secrist and his wife Misty. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Joran N. White, Casey L. Secrist, Daltyn Emrich, Samantha Murry, Maci Smith, and Jake Boggess, as well as her four great-grandchildren, with a fifth expected soon.
Patricia’s quick wit, warm smile, and ability to put people at ease with her helpful nature and outgoing personality will be dearly missed. She possessed a sense of calm and a deep compassion that endeared her to everyone she met.
A service to honor Patricia’s life will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, – 1:00 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, located at 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd in Mt Vernon. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until time of services. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
In the words of an unknown author cherished by her family: Welcomed Home: The Lord has closed your weary eyes and welcomed you to paradise. I grieve for you, my mother dear, but I feel the Holy Spirit near. Go rest in peace, your labor’s through; thank the Lord for giving me you.
Patricia Kathleen Neipling will forever be remembered for the love and light she brought into our lives. Her memory will remain a guiding star for her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
