Lou Gragg Mavis, 86, of Fredericktown, passed away September 22, 2026.
Lou was born in Algood, Tennessee. She attended Tennessee Technological University, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She moved to Ohio to become a teacher in Danville and later began her career as a high school librarian in Fredericktown.
Lou married C. David Mavis in 1964, and they shared 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2020.
She is survived by her son, Brad Mavis; daughter, Amanda (Jay) Cornmesser; precious granddaughters, Claire and Caroline; and sister-in-law, Helon Gragg.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ben Gragg.
In keeping with Lou’s love of books, learning, and her community, those wishing to honor her memory may make a contribution to the public library of their choice.
