Douglas O. Brenneman, age 84, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was born on January 5, 1942, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to the late Charles H. and Charlotte M. (Archibald) Brenneman.
Douglas attended Jefferson High School where he graduated in 1960. He is a graduate of the National Hardwood Lumber School in Memphis, Tennessee. Doug retired from Brenneman Lumber Company in 2006, where he was owner and President.
He was a member of Gay Street United Methodist Church where he served on many committees over the years.
He served on the boards of the following organizations: Ohio Forestry Association, Salvation Army, YMCA, Knox County Foundation, Ohio Masonic Home and the P. Dean Gerber Scholarship Foundation.
He was a member of the Mount Zion Lodge #9 F & AM where he served as Master in 1976. He was a past president of the 19th Masonic District and served as District Deputy Grand Master in 1987, 1988 and 1989. He served the Grand Lodge of Ohio as Grand Master in 1999.
He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and a 33rd Degree Mason.
He was also a member of the Aladden Temple Shrine, Baldwin Shrine Club, Utica Shrine Club; Kam Ram Grotto; Heart of Ohio Council No. 258, Allied Masonic Degrees; Clinton Chapter No. 26, Royal Arch Masons; Kinsman Council No. 76, Royal and Select Masons; Clinton Commandery No. 5, Knight Templar; and Glenwood Chapter No. 303, O.E.S.
Doug is survived by his children; Charles (Kelly) Brenneman, Douglas J. (Barabara) Brenneman, Jennifer (Dennis) Miller; grandchildren, Bethany Hunt, Dustin Miller, Andy (Natalie) Brenneman, Adam (Lesley) Brenneman, Greg (Miranda) Brenneman, Matt Brenneman, John Brenneman, Joe Brenneman; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patrica (Toppin) Brenneman, his twin sister Virginia Parsons and his brother Perry Brenneman.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 4-7 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Flowers Chapel; 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050 with a Masonic Service starting at 7 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM with Mr. Roger Marra officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
