Sharlene E. Spicer, 79, of Howard died Friday morning, September 18, 2026 at Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon. She was born on April 26, 1947 in Lorain, Ohio to the late James and Lucille (Starkey) Tolley.
Sharlene was a member of the Saint John the Baptist Parish, attending Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. Sharlene always ended her call with her daughter, saying “Kiss my babies from me and Mike”.
Sharlene is survived by her husband, Michael Carmean; daughter, Karen Smith of Lawton, IA; son, Ted (Bridget) Buffington of Reno, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sharlene was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Buffington Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (200 Block of East High St., Mount Vernon) with Rev. Father P.J. Brandimarti as the Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
