Kay Louise (Wyer) Weyrich passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the age of 88 with her family by her side.
She was born on September 25, 1937, in Medina, Ohio to the late Theodore and Mabel (Rickert) Wyer. Kay was a dedicated wife of 53 years to the late Reverend C. David Weyrich, lovingly known as “Father Dave,” and assumed the role of “Mother Kay” effortlessly to those who knew her. Kay raised three boys while remaining equally devoted to the ministries Father Dave led in Ohio, Maryland, and Utah. She also took great pride in her own career as a closing agent, most recently for Heartland Title in Mount Vernon. Mother Kay and Father Dave were known for taking care of those in need, advocating for those overlooked, and loving all.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Sam, whose legacy she continued to champion until she passed. She is survived by her three sons, Greg (Donna) Weyrich of LaFollette, Tennessee, Andrew (Amy) Weyrich of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tony (Melissa) Weyrich of London, Ohio; grandchildren, Sarah, Lydia (Casey), Stuart, Nicholas, Micaela; cousin and best friend Joyce (John) McFadden; and her cherished dog, Charley.
A Eucharistic celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 18 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in her honor be made to the Sam the I Can Man Foundation (www.samtheicanman.org) -the family’s foundation supporting those with disabilities.
Her family memoir closed with two quotations:
