Lori K. Cramer, 59, of Worthington, Ohio died on Monday evening, September 7, 2026 at her home with her husband, Seth, by her side following a courageous battle with ALS, commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She was born on January 22, 1967 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Paul R. and Patricia Ann (Lotz) Charles and grew up in Fredericktown, Ohio in Palmyra.
Lori earned her Bachelor of Science from Bowling Green State University and went on to earn her paralegal certificate from Capital Law School. She spent more than 21 years, mostly with Nationwide Financial Services, where Lori supported the mutual fund business as one of the most respected and accomplished paralegals. Away from work, Lori was an avid reader and animal lover, having rescued multiple cats and dogs over her years, alongside her husband. Additionally, Lori was a frequent blood donor, achieving 100 pints of blood donation and inspiring others, including her husband, to become donors.
Throughout her journey with ALS, Lori stepped up to help support research to eradicate this dreadful disease. At Mass General Brigham’s Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS, she enrolled in more clinical studies than any other patient. Additionally, Lori put herself forward to help raise significant funds to sponsor research by Dr. Stephen Kolb at The Ohio State University. Even though she knew that it was highly unlikely that her contributions would save her life, it was important to Lori that she help save others who would come after her. The grace and strength with which she handled this disease was an inspiration.
Lori is survived by her husband, Seth M. Cramer; her brother, William (Patty) Charles of Worthington, Ohio; and many friends.
In addition to wonderful parents, Lori was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sondra Sue Charles.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of a funeral service honoring Lori at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Dowds Chapel, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon, Ohio. Evangelist Troy Northrop will officiate. Lori will be laid to rest beside her parents in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown, Ohio.
