Irene Richert, age 92 of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the Avalon Nursing Home in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
She was born on February 11, 1934, in Pennsylvania to the late Tony and Emma Oros. Irene was employed as a telephone operator and volunteer for New Hope Industries. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Among the many roles she cherished throughout her life, Irene devoted herself with extraordinary love and unwavering dedication to caring for her daughter for 67 years.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald D Richert. Irene is survived by three daughters, Jane Marie Richert, Jean Marie (Anthony) Hensley, and Joan Marie (Bill) Stout; also two sons Andy Richert, and Jerry (Maureen) Richert Jr; her grandchildren, Andrew Gordon, Aaron (Cole) Gordon, Alec Gordon, Matthew (Molly) Stout, Brian (Alexa) Stout, Ashland (Michael) Pingue, Jessica (Stephen) Jones, Kyle (Katie) Richert; three great grandchildren, Gunner and Rey Gordon and McKenna Gordon and another expected great granddaughter in October, Skylar Pingue. Irene is also survived by her sister and best friend, Jane Nugent.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her grandson Justin Richert; her step-grandson Tanner Mercier; and ten siblings.
A graveside service will be held Friday, September 18, 2026 , at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery beginning at 2pm for immediate family members only.
