MOUNT VERNON – Hearth & Home by Crookston Candles will launch a Dolly Parton inspired fundraiser benefiting Interchurch Social Services of Knox County.
From Sept. 25 through Oct. 9, $11 from every Brighter Mornings Are Coming candle sold will be donated to Interchurch.
The fundraiser was inspired by Dolly Parton’s well-known love for her hometown. After returning to Knox County following 23 years away, owner Christa Crookston saw an opportunity to carry that same spirit of hometown generosity into the next chapter of her business.
“Dolly has always shown us how powerful it can be when someone remembers where they came from and chooses to pour back into that community,” Crookston said. “Now that Crookston Candles is back in our hometown, this felt like a beautiful full- circle moment.”
The brown sugar and fig candle was created as a reminder that hope can still be found after life’s darkest seasons. Its message reads, “Brighter mornings are coming, even after the darkest night. May this remind you that hope is always on the horizon.”
Interchurch Social Services of Knox County is a Christian faith-based ministry that has served the community for more than 50 years. Its mission is to unite community resources to meet the needs of individuals and families experiencing crisis.
“Interchurch has blessed and supported so many local families throughout the years,” Crookston said. “This is our way of thanking them for the work they do day in and day out.
“We are honored to support their mission and the people they serve.”
Hearth & Home by Crookston Candles grew from the belief that something as simple as lighting a candle can bring comfort, encouragement and hope.
Following seasons of cancer, widowhood, grief and rebuilding, Crookston returned to Knox County with her two young daughters and relaunched the business with the message: “New home. New beginning. Same heart.”
The Brighter Mornings Are Coming candle will be available Sept. 25 through Oct. 9 at crookstoncandles.com.
