MOUNT VERNON — There were five people sentenced in Knox County Common Pleas Court in August.
According to court documents, Judge Richard Wetzel ordered the following sentences:
August 6
- Lawrence M. Hurst, of Columbus, pleaded guilty to identity fraud, a fourth-degree felony. A fifth-degree felony charge of theft was dismissed.
Hurst was sentenced to a definite term of imprisonment of 17 months with credit for 121 days served along with future days while awaiting transportation to the appropriate institution.
- Brody Cosner, of Bellville, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle, a fifth-degree felony.
Cosner was sentenced to serve a two-year term of community control and 12 days in the Knox County Jail with credit for 12 days served. Cosner must also submit to an out-patient drug and alcohol assessment and comply with any recommended treatment plan, submit to a term of drug and alcohol use monitoring and obtain and maintain full-time employment.
August 13
- Javon I. Nguyen, of Indianapolis, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with order or signal of a police, a third-degree felony.
Nguyen was sentenced to serve a two-year term of community control and 300 days in the Knox County Jail with credit for 219 days served. The term of imprisonment is to be suspended if Nguyen enters into and successfully completes the West Central Community Based Correctional Facility treatment program, submit to an out-patient drug and alcohol assessment and comply with any recommended treatment plan, submit to a term of drug and alcohol use monitoring and obtain and maintain full-time employment.
Nguyen is also subject to a mandatory operator’s license suspension of three years.
August 27
- Kevin E. Fields, of Cardington, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
Fields was sentenced to serve a definite term of imprisonment of 11 months with credit for 331 days served along with future days while awaiting transportation to the appropriate institution.
Fields also pleaded guilty to another count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. A third-degree felony count of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution was dismissed.
Fields was sentenced to serve a definite term of imprisonment of 11 months with credit for 314 days served along with future days while awaiting transportation to the appropriate institution.
Fields shall serve both case sentencings consecutively.
- Stephen E. Deshong, of Mansfield, pleaded guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony. A first-degree misdemeanor charge of driving under suspension was dismissed.
Deshong was sentenced to serve a two-year term of community control and 180 days in the Knox County Jail with credit for 138 days served. The term of imprisonment is to be suspended if Deshong enters into and successfully completes the Mended Reeds residential treatment program, submit to an out-patient drug and alcohol assessment and comply with any recommended treatment plan, submit to a term of drug and alcohol use monitoring and obtain and maintain full-time employment.
Deshong also pleaded guilty to possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fourth-degree felony.
Deshong was sentenced to serve a two year term of community control and 180 days in the Knox County Jail with credit for 138 days served. The term of imprisonment is to be suspended if Deshong enters into and successfully completes the Mended Reeds residential treatment program, submit to an out-patient drug and alcohol assessment and comply with any recommended treatment plan, submit to a term of drug and alcohol use monitoring and obtain and maintain full-time employment.
