John Michael Francis, age 62, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. Per John’s wishes…..bla, bla, bla …. yada, yada, yada…..!
He was born on January 7, 1964, in Mount Vernon to the late Ralph and Mary (Sapp) Francis. John was employed for many years at Ver-Mac Industries and was a member of the Church on the Rise. He served City Council – 2nd Ward for many years and helped in the process to build a beautiful park which will be rededicated in his name. He enjoyed fireworks, stamp collecting, reading, and collecting military memorabilia. But most of all, John loved the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, family and close friends.
He is survived by his wife, of over 44 years, Judy (Hinger) Francis; his son Jacob (Melissa) Francis; his daughter Felicia (Tarlton) Edwards; four grandchildren, Trevin Francis, Coltin Francis, Skyler Edwards, Liam Edwards; his brother Roger (Joanie) Francis; and his sisters, Joyce Francis, Janet (Doug) Bricker, Jackie (Darrell) Gallwitz and Teresa (Corny) Cherry.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister Judy Rizor and his brother-in-law Greg Graham.
In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family plans to have a celebration of life service at a day and time to be announced.
