Kathryn E. Duncan, 79, of Mount Vernon passed away on August 19, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on July 26, 1947, to Clyde and Katherine (Parkins) Furley in Mount Vernon, OH.
Kathryn enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and mushroom hunting. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family.
Kathryn is survived by her son James (Ellie) Duncan of Mount Vernon, OH; step children Laurie (Kevin) Smith of Newark, OH and David Duncan of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren Chelsea (Koury) Duncan, Sierra Duncan, James (Jessica) Duncan all of Mount Vernon, OH; great-grandchildren Ayden, Kale, Samarah, Melany, Mykiah, Liam, Keagan, Jazzy and Izzy; a sister Patty Furley of Mount Vernon; a sister in law Mary Johns; nephews Adam Furley, Josh Furley Claude Gates, James Gates; nieces Christine Johns, Becky Johns, Jennifer Myers, Tammy Gates, Charlene Gates and many extended family members.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bobby Johns, sisters Linda Gates, Sandy Hughes, Charlotte (Virgil) Everhart); nephew Virgil ‘Bud’ Everhart and a brother-in-law Adrian Gates.
Graveside services will be Friday, 11:00am, August 28, 2026, at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
