Richard Larry Arlen, age 85, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Country Club Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on Friday, May 9, 1941, in Crestline, Ohio to the late Jack and Helen (Page) Arlen.
Larry graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He spent his career in the insurance industry and retired at age 62 as Assistant Vice President, Manager, Life and Health claims.
He lived in Crestline, Bellbrook, Cincinnati, Manning, SC and Mount Vernon. Larry enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening – including serving as a Master Gardener, photography, volunteering with the food bank in Manning, SC and Ohio State Buckeye football.
Larry is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer (Doug) Bouch, Julie (Mike) Norrocky, Kathleen (Gary) Lambert; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed (Janet) Arlen; his dog Lucky; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caretaker and housekeeper, Kate.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Arlen and a son, Bart Arlen.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, starting – 12:00 Noon at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of service on Saturday.
