Betty Jane Tharp, 93, of Mount Vernon passed away Friday afternoon, August 21, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 14, 1933, in Mount Vernon to the late Harry and Flora (Wheeler) Dexter.
Betty honorably served her country in the Air Force earning the rank of Corporal during the Korean War. She was a Realtor before retirement.
Betty is survived by her children, Randy (Sharon) Tharp of Mount Vernon and Karen Stump of Mount Vernon; 4 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and her sister, Jo Ann Wilson of Fredericktown.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of over 62 years; William T. “Bill” Tharp.
