FREDERICKTOWN — Hannah Taylor said becoming principal of Fredericktown Elementary School isn’t simply the next step in her career.
It’s a role she has been working toward for years in a community she already considers home.
“It’s my dream job. I have said for a couple years, principal at Fredericktown Elementary School is where I want to be,” Taylor said.
Taylor spent nine years at Fredericktown as a second-grade teacher before spending a year as an intervention specialist.
In December 2022, she received a master’s degree in educational administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
She then began her administrative career as an assistant principal at Mount Vernon, where she spent a year before returning to Fredericktown in 2025.
After returning, Taylor worked in a teach support role at Fredericktown Elementary before stepping into the principal position.
Although Taylor grew up and graduated from Lexington High School, she said Fredericktown holds a special place in her heart.
“This was my first job, and I love the community and the people. It’s a special place,” Taylor said.
Taylor is also a mother of two children.
That connection is one of the reasons she wanted to remain at Fredericktown as she moved into administration.
“I feel really supported. I’ve got a lot of people who I can lean on and ask questions,” Taylor said.
In her first year as principal, her goal is simple:
“I want to continue building relationships with families and students,” she said.
