Richard “Rick” Lee Stoutenburg, age 77, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on October 2, 1948, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Theron “Spike” and Norma (Wagstaff) Stoutenburg.
Rick was a 1968 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. He previously worked for PPG in Mount Vernon before retiring in 2010 from PACS Industries in Mount Vernon.
Rick was an old-school engineer who truly enjoyed working with his hands. He had a natural talent for figuring out how things worked and loved taking on projects. He especially enjoyed working on classic car engines and woodworking. Rick was also a big NASCAR fan and loved following the races.
Rick will be remembered for his mechanical ability, his love of working with his hands, and the many projects and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He also enjoyed watching and supporting his daughter play softball and was the honorary Team Dad. The family will always remember the trips to Lake Erie and camping at East Harbor in Port Clinton. Rick will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqualyn “Jackie” (Kelley) Stoutenburg, whom he married on January 15, 1976, his daughter, Kelley Lee Stoutenburg, grandchildren, Tru, Brayden, Abigail, Raelynn and baby Lainey on the way. He is also survived by a sister, Sandy Davies.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Stoutenburg and a sister, Judy Stoutenburg.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 2 to 6 pm at the Henry Center in Whaley Park, 12 Mill Street, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019. The Dowds- Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Richard Lee Stoutenburg.
