Larry E. Gault, 87, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Larry was born on September 10, 1938, in Ashland, Ohio, the son of the late Floyd Gault and Luella (Burns) Gault. In 1956, he married Patricia (Lucci) Gault, with whom he shared many years of marriage until her passing.
Larry owned and operated Gault’s Cleaner in Ashland and Mount Vernon, where he dedicated his adult life to serving the community through the family business. Throughout his career, Larry was active in his profession and served as a past president and district director of the Ohio Cleaners Association. He was also affiliated with the International Fabricare Institute.
Larry was a member of Gay St. United Methodist Church and was active in several local organizations. He was a life member of the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge and a member of the Mount Vernon Moose Lodge and Mount Vernon Country Club.
Outside of work, Larry was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed Ohio State football and the Cleveland Browns and rarely missed an opportunity to follow his favorite teams. Larry also loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas, and enjoyed taking many cruises throughout the years. One of his greatest joys was taking his family on annual vacations while his children were growing up, creating countless memories together. Over the years, Larry and his family visited 46 of the 50 states, making a lifetime of unforgettable adventures.
He is survived by his son, Jim (Debbie) Gault; daughter, Kimberly Hutchison; grandchildren, Rachel (Shawn) Moody, Tony (Kayla) Gault, Colton (Tessa) Hutchison, and Mckenzie Hutchison; and great-grandchildren, Flynn, Da’Juné, Kayt’lynn, June-Yor, and Genesis.
In addition to his parents and wife, Patricia, Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Gault; brothers, Norman Gault and Richard Gault; and sister, Janet Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Ashland City Schools, 1407 Claremont Ave., Ashland, Ohio 44805, with “Larry Gault” noted on the contribution.
