Newark – Dorothy Irene (Chapman) Bagent-Seitz, died Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Hearth Brook Senior Living at the age of 92.
She was born December 9, 1933 in Greer to the late Granville and Bertha Leone (Norris) Chapman. She was a graduate of the Danville High School class of 1941, and retired as a bus driver and behind the wheel instructor with North Fork Schools. Dorothy was a long-time member of the Greer Wesleyan Church.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Pauline Stamp of Newark; granddaughter Angela (Doug) Kinney; two great grandchildren, Trevor Valdez (Kayla Haviland) and Nichole Valdez (Adam Ryan); three great-great grandchildren, Conner Valdez, Colton Ryan, and Elizabeth Ryan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert E. Bagent on January 26, 1995, and George E. “Casey” Seitz on September 22, 2012; son, Tony Bagent; brothers, Elmer, Ralph, George, Harry, Robert, Norman, Henry, and Kenneth Chapman; and sisters, Matilda Neighbarger, Goldie Paazig Rauch, and Lulu.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Chris Wiseman will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time.
