Gerald W. Vogel, age 79, of Howard, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Ohio Health Hospice House in Columbus.
He was born on April 16, 1947, in Melrose, Minnesota to the late Warner and Christine (Zierden) Vogel Stromberg. Gerald was employed for over 30 years as a Service Parts Representative for John Deere. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 153 – Olathe, Kansas, VFW Post #4027 – Mount Vernon, Amvets Post #95 – Mount Vernon, and volunteered for the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council. Gerald enjoyed golfing, fixing just about anything, small engine repair and cooking. He was a Veteran serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, of over 24 years, Marlene “Marty” Vogel; his daughter Christine (Ryan) Warden; his son Daniel (Renea) Lendman; six grandchildren, Brittany Vogel, Nicole Vogel, Amber Vogel, Kaitlyn Lendman, Kyle Lendman, Aden Warden; his sister Jan (Terry) Meyer; and his daughter-in-law Jennifer Vogel.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his son Kirk Vogel.
In keeping with Gerald’s wishes there will be no calling hours. The family plans on having a celebration of life service at a day and time to be announced.
