MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Ohio Indivisible (KCOI) will hold a protest during the Good Trouble Lives On weekend of action to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia.
The protest is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Members of the local
Indivisible chapter will stand on the sidewalk along Coshocton Avenue across from Kroger, holding signs that communicate a positive message about voting.
To honor the weekend’s theme, the message leads off with “Voting is Good Trouble.”
The protest coincides with other such events throughout the state and country. It also follows similar protests organized by KCOI along Coshocton this past May and in November 2025: 20 Reasons to Thank Labor Unions and Signs of Fascism, respectively.
“We want to affirm our voting rights, respond to the recent FBI raid of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative offices, and protest attempts by both federal and state authorities to suppress our right to vote,” Laurie Finke, co-chair of Knox County Ohio Indivisible, said.
According to the Good Trouble Lives On website, “Good Trouble” — a phrase coined by the late congressman and civil rights icon, John Lewis — is the act of coming together to take peaceful, nonviolent action to challenge injustice.
