MOUNT VERNON – Habitat for Humanity of Knox County announces the hiring of Heather Petersen as the organization’s new ReStore manager.
Petersen brings a passion for customer service, team leadership, and community engagement to the Habitat ReStore.
In her new role, she will oversee the daily operations of the ReStore, including retail sales, donation processing, volunteer coordination, merchandising, and helping ensure every customer enjoys a welcoming shopping experience.
“We’re excited to welcome Heather to the Habitat family,” said Terry Schulz, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Knox County.
“Heather’s enthusiasm, positive attitude, and heart for serving others make her an outstanding fit for this position. We believe her leadership will help take the ReStore to the next level while continuing to support Habitat’s mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.”
Building relationships
The Habitat ReStore is more than a home improvement store. Every purchase and donated item help fund Habitat for Humanity’s work of building and repairing homes for local families. By shopping, donating, and volunteering at the ReStore, community members directly invest in creating affordable housing opportunities throughout Knox County.
Petersen said she is eager to build relationships with customers, donors, volunteers, and community partners while continuing to grow the ReStore as a destination for quality home improvement materials, furniture, décor, appliances, and unique treasures at affordable prices.
“I am honored to join Habitat for Humanity of Knox County and look forward to serving our community in this new role,” she said. “The ReStore has such an incredible mission because every donation, purchase, and volunteer hour helps create safe, affordable housing for local families.

The Habitat ReStore is located at 405 W. Chestnut St. It accepts donations of gently used furniture, appliances, building materials, home décor, and more. The store is open Tuesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
