Watercolor artist, woodworker, and engineer, Gerald “Jerry” D. Lindstrom, age 88, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Knox Community Hospital. He was born May 26, 1938, in Buffalo, New York to Mildred Freeburg Lindstrom and Howard Durfee Lindstrom.

The family lived in Jamestown, New York for a time where Jerry graduated from high school. The father was transferred to Ohio then to South Carolina where Jerry enrolled in the Clemson University Mechanical Engineering Program. He graduated in 1960 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jerry married Donnajo Gibson and then served in the U.S. Army. He accepted a position with Babcock & Wilcox (B@W) Company; where he worked in research and had his name on several patents while working for B&W Jerry attended Akron University and earned a Master of Science Degree in Engineering.

He retired at age 52 after 30 years with B&W. He enjoyed “fixing things” and traveling. He traveled in all 50 states and 16 countries. Donnajo had health issues and passed away December 17, 2008.

Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara (Willer – Gillogly) Lindstrom, they married on December 5, 2009, in Mount Vernon; also surviving is a stepson, Brian (Rebecca) Gillogly and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Craig) Stierhoff.

He was proceeded in death by his sister Donna Marie Lindstrom Bishop.

Visitation will be held on from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Clarence Hensel officating. Inurnment will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
