Leona Irene Arnholt, age 87, of Loudonville, Ohio, and formerly of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
She was born on August 1, 1938, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Lawrence and Leona (Harding) McGough.

Irene was a 1957 graduate of Howard High School. She and her late husband Richard Norman owned and operated a small grocery store in Howard for many years and later served as the manager of Hiawatha Senior Village in Mount Vernon for many years.
A faithful member of the Loudonville Church of the Nazarene, Irene was also a longtime member of Knox Chapter #303 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a 50-plus year member. She was also active with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.

Irene enjoyed caring for her flower gardens and was a talented artist and painter. She loved playing cards, attending concerts with friends, and especially enjoyed the music of Timothy Noble and Hosanna Noble. She traveled many miles over the years to watch them perform.
She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, faith, and the love she shared with her family and friends.

Irene is survived by her loving husband Ronald Arnholt, whom she married on October 20, 2012, two stepsons, Ronald (Connie) Arnholt II and Michael Arnholt, both of Lancaster, Ohio, a brother, Harold McGough of Indiana, nieces, Donna Shifflett, Ruth Webb, Roberta Zeck and Debbie Weller.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Richard Norman, a stepson, Matthew Arnholt, two brothers, James Francis McGough and Ervin McGough and a sister, Carol Reiss.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, beginning at 12 noon at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. An Eastern Star Service will begin at 12 noon. Mrs. Marsha Butler will be officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Howard.

Memorial contributions in Irene’s name may be made to the Loudonville Church of the Nazarene, Knox Chapter #303 Order of Eastern Star or the Timothy and Hosanna Noble Music Fund.
