Vicki Lynn Bever Doze passed away at Country Club Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon, Ohio on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the age of 79. She was born in Colby, Kansas on February 13, 1947 to Melville Bever and LaVaughn (Hudson) Bever.
Vicki graduated from Carbondale High School in Carbondale, KS in 1965, and she married Richard Kent Doze on August 1, 1965. To this union, five children were born – Cub, Dustin, Jared, David, and Jesse.
Vicki had many hobbies, including collecting dolls, costume jewelry, and Elvis records/memorabilia, reading, gardening, and supporting her five boys in their sports activities. Vicki was also an accomplished genealogist. Over the years, she compiled extensive family history from all lineages, authored two family history books, and assisted in organizing several family reunions.
After raising her five boys, Vicki went back to college and received her associate’s degree in history from Colby Community College in 1994. Vicki worked as a librarian at Colby Community College, and later at Washburn University School of Law, where she retired in 2009.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Melville Wesley Bever and LaVaughn Darlene (Hudson) Durkin, and her husband Richard Kent Doze.
Vicki is survived by sisters Coleen Remington (Lonnie), Tammy Marstall, and Sheila Stickler, brothers Darrell Kent (Diana), Gordon Kent, and David Durkin (Brenda), sons Cub Doze (Tik), Dustin Doze, Jared Doze, David Doze, and Jesse Doze (Nancy), and grandchildren Brett Doze (Haley), Cody Doze, Curtis Doze, and Laniakea Doze.
Memorial Services will be held at the United Church of Christ, 104 S. 4th St. Carbondale, Kansas on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. CST.
