Chester Earl Woods III, 42, of Mount Vernon, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born on February 9, 1984 to Chester Earl and Wanda Marie (McVay) Woods Jr. in Millersburg, Ohio.
He graduated from Waynedale High School in Apple Creek, Ohio, and continued his education at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in business. He received a master’s degree in project management from Walden University.
Chester was a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, kayaking, and doing anything outdoors. He was particularly fond of looking for eagle nests. He was gifted in working with his hands and could create or build almost anything. He enjoyed travel and family trips to the Columbus Zoo.
Chester is survived by his wife Bethany (Wilson) Woods; children, Isabella and Brady Woods; parents, Chester Earl (Jayne)Woods Jr. Of Nashville, Ohio, and Wanda (Paul) Eikleberry of Shreve, Ohio; siblings, David (LIsa) Woods of Shreve, Ohio, and Felicia (Will) Brannon of Mount Vernon, Ohio; grandmother, Joyce McVay Deglar of Holmesville, Ohio; and many aunts, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Chester Earl Woods.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, May 21, 2026, at New Life Church of the Nazarene, 665 Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, at 6:30 in the evening.
