Eddie C. Payne, 80 of Johnstown, OH passed away on April 28, 2026 in Coldwater, MI. He was born on January 31, 1946 to Harry and Chloe (Woodruff) Payne in Columbus, OH.
Eddie was a member of the Ohio National Guard for 30 years. He was also a member of the Highwater United Church of Christ and the Masons Zion Lodge # 9. Eddie enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and baking. He also liked yard work and watching the birds in his yard. He was a former member of the Hartford Senior Fair Board.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly (Hogue) Payne; sons Jarrod Payne of Isabelle, SD, former spouse Sara Payne, Terry (Melinda) Payne of Etna, OH and Bryan Payne of Mount Vernon, OH;step children Gabe Minnick, Grayson (Tiarra) Minnick, Hunter Minnick grandchildren Cassandra (Gary) Schrecengost of Grove City, OH, Linzey (Carter) Sherburne of Heath, OH, Megan Payne of Mount Vernon, OH and Ethan Payne of Mount Vernon, OH; step grandchildren Ada Minnick and Macson Minnick; great grandchildren Rayce and Ryder Schrecengost; siblings Sue Ellen (Dick) Hogue of Croton, OH and Ted (Judy) Payne of Centerburg, OH; and many extended family members.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Ned Payne and a daughter in law Shelley Payne.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Snyder Funeral Home ~ Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 7:00pm.
