Danville earns No. 1 seed, will open girls softball tourney in district action

DANVILLE — The road to the girls district softball title runs through Danville.

The Blue Devils earned the No. 1 seed in Sunday’s Division VI tournament draw and took a first-round bye.

Danville (15-4) will take on either No. 10 Mount Gilead or No. 11 East Knox in a district semifinal game at 5 p.m. May 19 at a site to be determined.

No. 10 Mount Gilead (4-16) will host No. 11 East Knox (1-15) for a sectional title at 5 p.m. May 13.

Centerburg picked up the No. 3 seed in the Division V draw.

The Trojans (17-3) will host No. 14 Pleasant (5-12) at 5 p.m. May 14 for a sectional final.

No. 8 Fredericktown (11-9) will visit No. 7 Grove City Christian at 5 p.m. May 14.

The Division I and Division II tournament draws will be Sunday. Mount Vernon is the defending Division II state runner-up.
