MOUNT VERNON – Get ready to treasure hunt or turn your clutter into cash. For the second straight year, the City of Mount Vernon will be having a Citywide Yard Sale Trail.

This year’s event will be on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3.

Residents who want to host a sale as part of the Yard Sale Trail can sign up through the city’s yard sale permit tool, which is free.

Just visit the homepage of the City of Mount Vernon’s website at https://www.mtvernonoh.gov, scroll down to this article, click on the link therein, select “Apply Online,” create your free account, and fill out the short form.

Once registered, your sale will be featured on the official Yard Sale Trail map, helping shoppers find you and boosting your traffic all weekend long. Whether you’re buying, selling or just browsing, this is a great way to connect with the community and score some amazing finds.

Those who sign up will also find the administrative rules pertaining to yard sales and garage sales in general in Mount Vernon.

Anyone who needs assistance with the registration process or has any questions can call the City’s Code Enforcement Department at 740-393-9520.

Finally, residents who don’t sell all their items during the Yard Sale Trail can wait a week, as the city’s annual Spring Clean-Up Day will take place on Saturday, May 9, from 8 a.m. to noon at Ariel~Foundation Park, in front of the Schnormeier Events Center.

Anyone living in Knox County with large, unwanted items, old furniture or just general junk will be able to dispose of it responsibly during the Clean-Up Day. There will be no limit on loads, with a cost of $20 per load.
