FREDERICKTOWN — Region 23 just got a little more interesting.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its divisional breakdown for the 2026 football season and Fredericktown will join Region 23 of Division VI.
The Freddies have competed in Division V the past four years, reaching the Region 18 playoffs each season.
Fredericktown will join Centerburg and East Knox in Region 23. Centerburg was the top seed in Region 23 last year and reached the regional semifinals.
Mount Vernon remains in Region 7 of Division II. The Yellow Jackets reached the playoffs last year before falling to Ashland in the opening round.
Danville will again be in Region 27 of Division VII. The Blue Devils won the Region 27 championship two years ago and fell to Hillsdale in the regional final last year.
Hillsdale will move up to Division VI in the fall.
