ELYRIA – Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) – Lorain Division, arrested Dawn Burge, 36, on Tuesday in Elyria.

Burge was wanted by the State of New Jersey – Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office for
aggravated assault.

“The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force will not stand for violent fugitives fleeing from other states to our communities,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated. “We have a strong presence in all our counties that we cover and we will track down and arrest these fugitives.”

On June 29, 2025, law enforcement responded to an address on Morgan Drive in Edison, New Jersey regarding a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who had suffered stab wounds.

An investigation ensued and it was determined that Dawn Burge was involved in the incident and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Members of the US Marshals led New York – New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJ RFTF) recently developed information that Burge fled the state of New Jersey and was residing in Lorain County.

On Tuesday, the NY/NJ RFTF requested assistance from the NOVFTF to apprehend Burge on her warrant.

After multiple interviews and pursuing several investigative leads, the NOVFTF were able to track down and arrest Burge at an establishment in the 500 block of Griswold Road in Elyria.

Burge was transported to the Lorain County Jail where she will be held until her extradition back to New Jersey.
