BLADENSBURG — The refurbished old Bladensburg Elementary School, 25821 New Guilford Road, is now the home of the Bladensburg Community Center.

The facility will be hosting the annual Alumni Banquet on May 9 at 5 p.m.

Everyone who attended the school, or friends or family of those who attended, or former teachers are all invited and encouraged to attend. The social hour starts at 5 p.m. and dinner follows at 6 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by East Knox graduate Rusty Rine on guitar and voice. Dinner will be only $15 per person and includes ham, beans, cheesy potatoes, seven-layer salad, rolls, drinks and desserts.

“We are happy once again to be hosting the annual alumni banquet. Many of the folks who attend enjoy the chance to get reacquainted and reminisce about old times,” said Kim Davidson, President of the Bladensburg Community Heritage Foundation, which operates the Bladensburg Community Center.

“We will have the yearbooks available to peruse, dating back to 1947! This year we will be featuring a wall of information on the history and photos of the Bladensburg School Building, developed by former graduates Lou VanWinkle Baker and Sandy Kidd Prestridge.”

“We also have a book listing all graduates, yearly, dating back to the early 1900s which was compiled by Sheila Dye Kent. There is plenty of FREE parking as well so I hope lots of folks choose to join us.”
