All garden series events are free.

GAMBIER — The Knox County Local Food Council will be hosting a Meet Me in the Garden learning series where gardeners can hear from local experts about a variety of gardening topics and meet other gardeners.

Topics this year include native plants and pollinators, beneficial insects, growing vertically, herb gardening, and black raspberry pruning techniques. All events are free and starting in May, will begin at 6 p.m.

The Meet Me in the Garden learning series kicks off on Friday, April 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. at 43022 Day at the Gambier Community Center.

This will be a gardening resource event featuring a seed and plant swap, as well as information from the Knox County Parks District and Knox County Local Food Council.

OSU extension educator, Sabrina Schirtzinger, will be talking about garden season extension practices. There will also be time to tour the Gambier Village Community park and garden.

Monthly Meet Me in the Garden sessions will be on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  

On May 26, Native Plants and Pollinators at Home will focus on backyard gardening with natives to welcome local pollinators. This event will be hosted by a home gardener in Apple Valley.

On June 30, Good Bugs, Bad Bugs in the Garden will be hosted by the Faith Lutheran Community Garden.

On July 21, Growing Vertically will be held at the Arch Park Community Garden on Arch Ave.

On Aug. 25, Everything Herbs will be hosted by Community Roots in Mount Vernon.

On Sept. 29, Pruning Black Raspberries will be held at the new Vine & Lawn Community Garden.
