When a trapped housewife encounters a colorful old woman at a nursing home, her new friend brightens her outlook by sharing tales from her past–especially the exploits of her free-spirited sister-in-law and the community centered around a small Alabama café in the 1920s. Through these stories, she gains the confidence to change her own life for the better.
