MOUNT VERNON — A Knox County grand jury indicted Albert V. Stutzman, 48, of Fredericktown on two counts of alleged rape, one count of attempted rape and one count of gross sexual imposition during its most recent session.

Below is a list of each charge with its corresponding severity:

  • Count one: Attempted rape, first-degree felony
  • Count two: Rape, first-degree felony
  • Count three: Gross sexual imposition, third-degree felony
  • Count four: Rape, first-degree felony

Count one allegedly occurred on or between June 1 and June 30, 2025, according to court records.

The indictment states that Stutzman’s second charge allegedly occurred on or between Sept. 11, 2012 and July 27, 2015.

Count three allegedly took place on or between Sept. 11, 2012 and Dec. 31, 2012 and count four allegedly happened on or between Jan. 1, 2012 and Sept. 10, 2012.

Counts two through four state Stutzman allegedly committed these offenses against a victim who was less than 13 years of age at the time.

Stutzman has no previous criminal cases filed against him in Knox County Common Pleas Court, according to the court’s online records.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Richard Wetzel on Feb. 4 at 1:30 p.m.

— Wayne W. Rittenhouse Jr., of Frazeysburg, failure to provide a change of address, a third-degree felony.

— Tyler D. Grubaugh, of Mount Vernon, failure to provide a change of address, a third-degree felony; failure to provide a change of address, a third-degree felony.

— Gavin S. Swoape, of Mount Vernon, strangulation, a third-degree felony.

— Kiara F. Johnson, of Mount Vernon, obstructing justice, a fifth-degree felony.

— Christopher B. Hass, of Somerset, aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony.

— Eileen R. Stout, of Centerburg, theft of drugs, a third-degree felony.

— Jeremy L. Savage, of Mount Vernon, tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.
