Mary Lou Sapp, 84, of Mount Vernon passed away on December 29, 2025 at Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on October 10, 1941 to Clarence E. and Hildagarde A. (Haas) Peters in Malita, OH.
Mary Lou was a member of the Trinity Worship Center in Mount Vernon, OH. She was also the Church treasurer for many years. Mary Lou served as Sunday School Superintendent and President of the youth group at Trinity Assembly of God. She volunteered at Metro Ministries for (inner city kids) in Mobile, AL. Mary Lou worked at Jewell Ice Cream and Milk Company, G.R. Smith Hardware, First Knox National Bank and Clever Lumber. Mary Lou loved to garden and take care of flowers. She was a big fan of the OSU Buckeyes. Mary Lou also collected dolls and she enjoyed showing them off in her home.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 62 years, John L. Sapp; her children, daughter Sheryl (Rick) Brewster of Miamisburg, OH, sons Tim (Arian) Sapp of Fredericktown, OH and Kevin (Buffy) Sapp of Fredericktown, OH; grandchildren Michelle (Jason) Sharp, Lindsey (Grant) Cassell, Megan (Timmy) Castle, Cierra (Derek) Farnsworth, Kyle (Cassondra) Sapp, Kelly Sapp and Braden Sapp; great-grandchildren Cayden, Gavin, Hudson, Faith, Gavin, Wyatt, Gracie, Koen, Lilliana, Aubriana, Colson, Quinntin, Jayden and Beckett; sister Martha (John) Stevenson, brother Bernard Peters, Sister Judy Arrington, Brother-in-law Glenn Sapp, Brother-in-law Carl (Vicky) Sapp, Sister-in-law Bonnie (Don) Hibdon, Brother-in-law Ray Sapp; and many extended family members.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Walburga Nixon, Sonny Peters, Clarissa Krohn, Barbara Toth Greeno, Carol Sharp, Joe Peters, Connie Wagoner, Carl Peters and Joyce Belton.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Trinity Worship Center, 1051 Beech Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050 at 11:00am following an hour of visitation prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at Moundview Cemetery in Mount Vernon, OH.
