Joyce Ann Meyers, 86, of Sunbury, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at Country View of Sunbury. Born in Shelby, Ohio, on November 24, 1939, to Earl C. and Catherine E. (Dunlap) Baker, Joyce’s life was marked by compassion, dedication, and love for family and community.
A proud graduate of Shelby High School’s class of 1957, Joyce pursued higher education with determination, earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing in Mansfield and later a bachelors in social work from Capital University. Her commitment to helping others led to a fulfilling career as both a Registered Nurse and Social Worker, serving for over thirty-two years.
Joyce’s passions extended beyond her professional life. She was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan who rarely missed a game, and showed that same love of sports by cheering for the Cleveland Guardians and following NASCAR. Her love of nature was evident in her beautiful flower gardens and frequent visits to Kingwood Center Garden in Mansfield, where she delighted in the vibrant floral displays and tranquil woodland trails. Bird watching brought her joy, and she maintained more than twenty feeders on her family’s farm. Joyce enjoyed being Lutheran by singing in the choir and helping with VBS crafts for many years.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Suki) Lantz, Ron (Tracy) Lantz and Becky (Andy) Fichtelman; 12grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty (Ron) Ryland; and her nephew, John Ryland.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Victoria Lantz, and her grandson Zachary Pruner.
A funeral service honoring Joyce’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at DeVore Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. State Route 61 at Route 3, Sunbury, Ohio. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Michael Wise will officiate.
