Dorotha Small, born on October 26,1941, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away December 24, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.

Dorotha was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered around caring for others. “Momma Small’s” found her greatest joy in her family and had a special love for babysitting children, a role she embraced with patience, kindness, and a gentle spirit. Many were touched by her warmth and steady presence over the years.

Dorotha “Dot”, dedicated 30 years of faithful service as a janitor at the local YMCA, where her strong work ethic and reliability were well known and deeply appreciated. She took pride in her work and the community she served. The YMCA was always a place for comfort and joy to Dot.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Dawn Tharp(Jolene); her fur baby Gidget; Brother Butch Moreland, her cherished grandchildren, Alexis Tharp, Jaidyn Hawkins, and Jobey Hawkins; and her precious great-grandchild Ophelia Huffman, who brought her immense joy.

Dorotha was preceded in death by her parents, Reed and Naomi Moreland, and best friend/sister Patty.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
