GAMBIER — The Philander Chase Conservancy marked two significant milestones in 2025: its 25th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of Kokosing Nature Preserve.

Conservancy director Amy Henricksen said the anniversaries are a testament to the commitment of the many donors and partners who recognize the importance of protecting the natural beauty of the farms, woodlands, waters and open spaces surrounding Kenyon College and preserving the rural character of the region at large.

A significant accomplishment was the opening of the 124-acre Yauger Road property, a key addition that extends the north trail system of the Brown Family Environmental Center.

This newly conserved land expands public access to green space in Knox County – linking with other trail systems to create over 20 miles of contiguous trails and a 1,000+ acre block of protected green space.

The success of the Yauger Road effort represents a significant step forward in the conservancy’s efforts to connect people more closely with the landscapes that sustain us.

These highlights and more are included in the conservancy’s 2024 – 2025 Year in Review.
