Earl Franklin “Buddy” Rudder, Jr., age 48, of Newark, Ohio, originally from Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Newark Rehabilitation in Newark, Ohio. He was born on February 11, 1977, in Columbus, Ohio, to Earl and Shirley (Short) Rudder, Sr.

He grew up with a very large, extended family. Many cousins, aunts and uncles, and extended family members. Lots of big get-togethers, cook-outs, and other memorable times making fantastic memories with his family, especially his cousins Dennis, Kevin, Shawn, Paulette, and so many others. Buddy was very close to his mother, but especially to his sister, Nona Mitchell.

Buddy attended multiple different schools, including Fredericktown and Mount Vernon City Schools, as well as Highland Local Schools. Over his young years, Buddy had many friends that he hung out with and went on many adventures. He made lifelong friends.
Buddy was many things. He was a son, a brother, a gamer (Playstation!), a comedian, a friend, a boyfriend and a husband, a cook, a steadfast Michigan football fan. But most importantly, he was a father, a very proud father.

Buddy is survived by three daughters: Erykah (Cameron) Wright, Gabrielle Rudder, Samantha (Christiaan) Helton; and two sons: Jonathan Harris and Kyle Walker. Three grandchildren: Jacob, Alaina, and Parker Harris. He is also survived by the mother of his daughters, Tamara Rudder, as well as his long-term girlfriend, Leslie Beem.

Buddy was preceded in death by his mother, his sister, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined.
