MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Knox County Coroner’s Office, has concluded its investigation into the death of Mary Worboy.
After an extensive review of evidence, including both physical and forensic analysis, the death has been determined to be accidental.
Mary Worboy was positively identified on July 25, 2025, through forensic dental analysis.
Throughout the investigation, Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit pursued all leads and
worked closely with forensic experts to ensure a thorough and accurate determination, the sheriff’s office stated in a press release.
“We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the community during this process. At this
time, no further investigative action is anticipated,” the release said.
“The Knox County Sheriff’s Office extends its gratitude to the Knox County Coroner’s Office,
local first responders, and all partner agencies who assisted in this investigation. Their
collaboration and professionalism were instrumental in bringing this case to a conclusion.”
