FREDERICKTOWN — On Nov. 4, Fredericktown residents will vote on whether or not they’d like to get behind two levies revolving around village safety.
One levy is for the police department and one is for the Fredericktown Community Fire District.
The police department’s levy is a 3-mill, 5-year renewal levy.
A sample ballot states that the estimated $119,300 collected annually will help maintain vehicles and equipment, as well as pay salaries.
For the FCFD, its levy is a 1-mill renewal and a 0.35-mill increase for a final 1.35-mill rate.
“The county auditor estimates will collect $273,000 annually, at a rate not exceeding 1.35 mills for each $1 of taxable value, which amounts to $47 for each $100,000 of the county auditor’s appraised value, for 5 years, commencing in 2026, first due in calendar year 2027,” a sample ballot reads.
The money the FCFD’s levy generates will help maintain vehicles and equipment, and help pay for “firefighting companies or permanent, part-time, or volunteer firefighting, emergency medical service, administrative, or communications personnel.”
