I have great faith in the American people. Over 900 people showed up in Mount Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 18 to say NO to a ‘would-be’ king and dictator.
We came out to show our support for the United States Constitution and the rule of law.
I stood with other grandparents, teachers, farmers, students, and veterans, to demand that leaders who continue to defy the rule of law and federal court orders STOP misusing our good National Guardsmen.
The National Guard is not a police force and should not be used to ‘police’ our cities against the will of the governors and trusted lawmakers of those cities.
The MAGA leaders in Congress and the White House need to be held accountable for violating the right of due process and threatening the safety of innocent civilians in our cities.
The DHS/ICE raid in Mount Vernon last week is just one more example of our leaders’ disregard for the constitutional right to due process.
In a recent interview with Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo, Trump asserted, “Don’t forget I can use the Insurrection Act. And that’s unquestioned power.”
We the people know that declaring the Insurrection Act doesn’t do away with the United States Constitution and the laws.
It won’t fulfill the craven fantasy Trump posted in an AI generated video of him in a fighter jet bombing a U.S. city with excrement.
Nicole Foy of ProPublica reported last week that more than 170 U.S. citizens have been detained by immigration agents in Chicago. She reports they “have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.
They’ve had their necks kneeled on. They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear. At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.”
This is not what Americans want. People in our cities, large and small, understand that creating chaos by terrorizing and arresting people who have not been accused of any crimes does nothing to make us safer.
Over seven million people came out last Saturday in support of an America that upholds the rule of law for everyone.
