MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspect on Thursday following a vehicle pursuit.
According to a release from the sheriff’s office, detectives, acting on investigative information, located Shawn Barrett in the area of Clutter Road on Oct. 16.

Deputies confirmed Barrett was driving a stolen vehicle reported out of Licking County. He also had multiple outstanding warrants, including:
- Possession of a dangerous ordinance
- Weapons under disability
- Illegal manufacture or processing of explosives
- Fleeing and eluding law enforcement
Deputies attempted to stop Barrett, who fled in the stolen vehicle, which prompted a brief pursuit. The chase ended when Barrett tried to escape off-road and crashed the vehicle.
He then attempted to run on foot, but officers apprehended him.
During the arrest, deputies recovered a bag containing a large quantity of suspected narcotics and cash.
EMS transported Barrett to Knox Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash. The KCSO then booked Barrett into the Knox County Jail.
According to the release, charges will be presented to the upcoming Knox County Grand Jury. No further information was available. The investigation remains ongoing.
