James (Jim) Donald Minnich, age 77, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died September 18, 2025, following a short fight with lung cancer. Jim was born on October 11, 1947, in Elyria, Ohio. He was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Fox) Minnich.

On October 30, 1971, Jim married Nina Friend at St. Mary’s Church in Elyria. They would have celebrated their 54th anniversary this coming October. Jim and Nina resided in Wellington, Ohio until 1985 when they relocated to Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Jim is survived by his wife, Nina, and daughters Danielle (Mark) Rask of Neenah, WI, and Lindsay Minnich of Mount Vernon. He was proud papa to Levi, Micah, and Gabe Rask. He is also survived by his sister Judy (Mark) Selee and brothers Tom (Loretta) Minnich Sr., Ken (Rose) Minnich, and Kevin (Karen) Minnich, plus many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary, brother John, and sister-in-law Pam.

Jim served in the Army during Vietnam (1968-1970), reaching rank of SPEC5, while driving trucks in Germany. Jim bowled his entire life. He loved boating, especially pulling his grandsons on the tube.

Visitation will be held on October 4, 2025, from 12–1 pm at Snyder Funeral Home – Flowers Chapel at 619 E. High Street in Mount Vernon, Ohio. A short service will follow at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice in remembrance of Jim.
